Learn what it takes to develop and control the power of your thoughts (part 3).
Excerpts from Chapter 11: Develop and Control the Power of Thought
As it relates to the mind culture you are now learning, visualization is an effect of the imagination. It works through the use of mental images combined with feelings and emotions. Because your mind cannot tell the difference between a real or a vividly imagined experience, repetition through imagination is like actually doing something over and over again! The "something" properly visualized possesses vitality. It will grow and eventually manifest itself in whatever form was imagined. Remember, the mind is creative; and visualization is a way to strengthen your intent and bring clarity and permanence to your mental images. This is an exercise that should become a part of your lifestyle and practiced on a regular basis. A few minutes here and there every day, imagining what you want in life, will assure life comes to you on your terms, just as you visualize.
Think of it this way, The process is like shopping for something you want. It should be fun and exciting, something you like to do. Like getting a new car, You see a commercial on TV or an image in a publication and decide you are going to get that car. You start looking at all the details of the car - the interior, the dash, seats, all the details inside of the car. You look at the wheels, the nice shape of the car, the front end, the color, all the details on the outside. After several minutes of that kind of visualization, you can almost feel yourself driving that car. You get excited, and it feels good. Can you feel it? You may have already done this with something at some point in your life.
"Visualization is a process of making mental images, and the image is the
mold or model, a definition which will serve as a pattern from
which your future will emerge." Charles Haanel
That is exactly what I am talking about, but let's take it one step further. Let's combine your visualization with a process called "idealization." It's like falling deeply in love with someone or something. You can't stop thinking about that person or that thing you want. All you can think about are the good qualities of that person or thing and how that person or thing makes you feel. Got it? Be in love, feel in love - that is idealization (similar to infatuation). It stirs emotion. Be intense about what you want. Make your image clear and well defined. You must first see it in your mind before you will ever see it in your life. Hold the image firmly in your mind daily, and you will gradually and constantly bring the thing, person (type of person), whatever you desire, closer to you.
When you idealize and visualize what you want, you are engaging the most powerful thing in the world, your mind. As you imagine the thing you desire, more and more completely, you will see it in all its details. And as the details become clearer, the ways and means for bringing it into your life will materialize. One thing will lead to another. Thoughts will lead to action. Action will develop methods. Methods will create friends, and friends will bring about circumstances until finally, that which you have desired and thought about for what seems like forever is here. The actual time you spent thinking about it may have only been a few months. It may have been years if it is a larger more complicated goal. There are many factors that can affect what is known as manifestation, and the timeline for that to happen is out of your control. You may have other goals in conjunction with a particular goal, and that can affect your timeline as well. Regardless, the first time this happens to you, your faith will grow tenfold and you will begin to understand your connection with the Universe. I know, because it happened to me!
As always, I encourage your participation. SEARCH: and learn. If you have a question, let me know. Take the time to learn something NEW, tell your family and friends, and join the conversation. It's exciting and fun! I look forward to hearing from you. The Artisan Victor
